2 Corinthians 5:7

                           WALK BY FAITH (II)

Elisha was a man of great faith. He trusted in God with a deep conviction. The Syrians had been raiding Israel and threatening war (2 Kings 6). The servant reported to Elisha that the Syrian army had surrounded the city, but Elisha was calm. Elisha told his servant, “ Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” His perspective was an example of great faith.

How could he be calm in a time like this? The people of Israel would be killed; their homes would be destroyed; the survivors would be taken captives and become slaves.

Hebrews 11:1 says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen..” Elisha believed that God and His heavenly host were with him even though he could not see them.

When you lack faith or are afraid, sing this song of encouragement:
1. Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you; beneath his wings of love abide, God will take care of you.
God will take care of you, through every day, o’er all the way; he will take care of you, God will take care of you.

2. Through days of toil when heart doth fail, God will take care of you; when dangers fierce your path assail, God will take care of you. (Refrain)

3. All you may need he will provide, God will take care of you; Nothing you ask will be denied, God will take care of you. (Refrain)

Thought: What is faith based on?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, when something goes wrong, help me keep trusting You, to walk by faith and not by sight. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
