Philippians 3:7-14
Romans 12:1-12

“…from them that walk uprightly.”

In the Spirit-filled life, Jesus is preeminent; self and the world are crucified; God’s kingdom and His righteousness come first (Phil 1:21; Gal 2:20, 6:4; Matt 6:33). With the Holy Spirit in control of every area of life, the following pattern of living will be seen in the Spirit-filled person:

Holy Living, with sorrow for sin, hunger and thirst after righteousness, a renewed and Christ-honouring lifestyle of separation from sin, bearing the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23).

Fervent Service for God is no burden but a blessed privilege, with new zeal in worship, keeping the Lord’s Day holy, attending Prayer Meeting, fellowshipping with brethren, and advancing His Kingdom.

Heavenly Attitude to Earthly Things. The world loses its attraction. His affection is fixed on things above. He desires a better country (Heb 11:16). Burden for the Lost. With compassion for lost souls, he is fired with holy zeal and evangelistic fervour (1 Cor 9:16).

Steadfast Christian Life. Following the Lord is one life-long steadfast commitment. There is no wavering or turning back, a “pressing toward the mark,” enduring hardship and affliction.

Zeal for God and His Word. He is filled with love of truth, boldness to declare all the counsel of God, to warn against false teaching, to separate from apostasy and to contend for the faith.

Looking for the Saviour. Fully persuaded of his heavenly citizenship, he looks daily for the Saviour, his blessed hope. Read 1 John 3:2.

The Spirit-filled person lives like a citizen of heaven.

THOUGHT: Where have I set my affections: below or above?
PRAYER: Lord, grant me the faith to see the invisible.
